Flavio Cobolli's Roland-Garros run has rewritten the story of Italian tennis. By reaching the final in Paris, the 24-year-old has climbed to world No. 10, becoming the seventh Italian man to crack the ATP top 10 since computerized rankings began in 1973.
The Florentine fell to Alexander Zverev in a grueling five-set final, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-1, over more than four hours of play. Despite the loss, Cobolli showed he belongs on the biggest stages.
Coached by his father Stefano, a former player himself, Cobolli turned professional in 2020 and built his career steadily. Three ATP titles, a Wimbledon quarterfinal in 2025, and a key role in Italy's 2025 Davis Cup triumph preceded this breakthrough. But nothing matched the magnitude of a Grand Slam final.
With leading the charge and Cobolli now firmly in the top 10, Italian tennis has never been stronger. The grass season offers the next test for a player who proved in Paris that his rise is far from over.
