Iga Swiatek, the four-time Roland-Garros champion and world No.3, dispatched Sara Bejlek 6-2, 6-3 in the second round. A controlled performance despite what the Pole herself called a "pretty unpredictable" start.
Bejlek, ranked 35th, disrupted Swiatek's rhythm in the early games with aggressive baseline play. But the favourite quickly found her range. From mid-first set onward, Swiatek unleashed her trademark groundstrokes with mechanical precision, leaving Bejlek scrambling.
The second set was a formality. Overwhelmed by the pace and depth of Swiatek's shots, Bejlek could not find answers. The 6-3 scoreline flattered the Czech.
Swiatek is now working with a new coaching setup, and the partnership appears to be bearing fruit. The 25-year-old Pole displays a new serenity, an ability to navigate shaky moments without losing composure. On her favourite surface, that maturity makes her more dangerous than ever.
With this win, Swiatek advances to the third round and continues her pursuit of a fifth Paris title. In a draw that has already lost several seeds, including Jessica Pegula in the first round, the path looks clear for the crowd favourite. The real battles, however, begin now.
